Here's where we spend a lot of our time, hanging out with friends, having family worship time after dinner, reading books and doing puzzles with Jonas... Sorry about the photos; San Francisco's fog rolled in this morning and wasn't letting the sun shine through our wonderful huge windows.
Anyway, our living room is great because it's huge (at least by our standards.) We have two sitting areas which works well for us because we have people over a lot and have never ever had enough places for people to sit. Here's the "front room":
Again, I really like color. Most of the furniture is stuff we've had from our other apartment and stuff from craigslist, like the rocking chair that we got for $10 and I reupholstered.
This area is also where I keep most of my knick-knacks collected from thrift stores and such. I'm lucky Jeff doesn't mind my random and eclectic decorating style! The vintage typewriter I scored off of craigslist in Escondido for $10! Also, artwork from Emily Martin (love love love her work: The picture below is a line from a Morrissey song!)
Behind the couch with the quilt is our "back room." This area also serves as our guest space because the sofa (also from craigslist!) is also a full-sized bed. Also, since we don't have a tv, we watch movies in this area on our trusty Mac computer (which has survived from our time in Brooklyn!) The wall above the sofabed will be getting some sewn-loving soon... it's next on my list of things to make.
The armoire in the corner is actually my sewing space! It's the one new piece of furniture we got for this space. It's really great because I can keep all my sewing stuff in one place and I don't have to worry about Jonas getting into any of it when it's not in use.
Here's how it looks from the entrance into our dining room...
Next up: The dining room and kitchen...
