happy birthday jonas

Can it really be? Has a year already gone by? And now my little/big newborn baby has grown into the little/big boy we know and love...

Jonas, I'm a little sad that you'll never know just how magical this past year, your first year with us, has been. All of the little things you are doing now that you will quickly outgrow and probably never do again. Your endless pointing to objects (especially flowers and birds and dogs), waiting for us to tell what they are (flowers, birds and dogs), and your words for them (duh, doh, and da). Your sweet disposition when we get you up from a long night of sleep or an extra good, restful nap-- the cuddles and hugs that make us feel like superheroes. Your open-mouthed, slobbery kisses that you now make us work so hard for. Oh, and of course, the smiles and laughs--all of them-- from the sweet, "I got caught doing something bad, but if I smile cute you might forget" smile to the deep, body-trembling belly laugh that comes from tickling you right in that spot. It has all been magical and wonderful and sweet.

And now you're one.

Soon, your babbling, your da's and ba's and tt's and ma's will become words and sentences and nouns and adjectives and paragraphs. Your short tantrums when you don't get something you want will become more difficult to deal with. Your hair will grow even longer and may even be cut so that you definitely look like a boy. Your teetering run will become full-blown, full-speeds away sprint that I won't be able to keep up with. But for now, I'm going to enjoy you as you are. And I'm going to cherish the memory of your first pancake birthday breakfast. Your first set of photobooth pictures with mommy and daddy. Your first bite of birthday cake. And I'm going to praise God for giving us such a lovely and amazing little person to love and to raise and to laugh and play with.

Baby Jonas, are you ready? Ready or not, year 2, here we come...

Happy Birthday Jonas!!! Carolina's waving hi too from her bouncy seat. :)

Kathy, that post was so sweet and I pray that God will bless you with many many more special memories this coming year!

Jonas isn't the only one growing here. YOU are now mama to a toddler! I hope you and Jeff have been able to look back at the past year and see how God has soooo graciously given you wisdom and instruction on how to raise a baby. So that in the coming year, you'll have the faith to rest in the fact that He will also give you all the grace you need to raise a toddler! :)

Happy Birthday Jonas!!! You lovely bonus to the Locke Family. That was such a beautiful post Kathy, it was such a joy to read : ) Jeremy and I cannot even tell you how blessed we feel that we got to see all of those little developments in Jonas' first year, God has given you such a sweet boy! Watching you and Jeff as parents has been so faith building...I can say, I have taken a lot of mental notes on how I would like to raise our kids, because of you! Please give him a big kiss and cuddle from both Jer and I, we miss his smiley, drooly face already.
Love,
Jo

Happy birthday precious boy!!! Kathy - what a beautiful tribute to your son. He will treasure reading it many years from now. God has blessed him so much by placing him in a home with you and Jeff as parents. (Keith just walked by, glanced at the screen, and exclaimed, "That's Jonas!?") ::grin:: Jonas has grown up so much since we last saw him! He's even more cute than ever. Much love to all three Lockes!

Dang, I miss that little guy already. We agree with Jo; we've been blessed to know the little quirks and joys of Jonas over the first year. Can't wait to celebrate tomorrow!
