June is Jonas month...

Jeff's being a doing a great job of posting about our little boy, making the month of June (un)officially Jonas month! :)

I am feeling much better and almost like a real person again! I can't believe that it's been 2 1/2 weeks since the C-section-- recovery has been surprisingly easier than expected (though I never actually expected that we'd have the baby via C-section.) Jonas is still in the newborn, "all I want to do is eat and sleep" stage, so when I'm not feeding/changing/bathing/"playing" with him, I've been trying to keep myself from being bored with various sewing and crafty projects. My latest projects involve embroidering, with hoops and all! It's actually pretty fun and not as difficult as I would have thought. Pictures of the projects will be up when I've completed them...

Exciting weekend/week ahead: Claudio and Lulu (our former care group leaders from NY) are in San Diego on vacation, we're going up to LA to see my dad and sister and Dave on Monday, a visit to Jeff's grandma's to see the great-grandparents and Jeff's mom, and Jonas' second pediatrician visit! Again, pictures coming soon...

Rise and Shine Jonas

One of the things I've come to love most about my newborn son is the way that he wakes up from a nap. We always swaddle him up nice and tight whenever we put him down, and the first thing he does when we wake him up and unswaddle him is to stretch in every possible way. I have a feeling this will be one of those things that old Jeff and Kathy will remember fondly about our grown son: "remember how he used to stretch every which way when we would wake him up..."

For your viewing pleasure, here is rise and shine Jonas.

The Jonas Locke Gallery

Mom, baby and me are all safe and sound at home now. We were discharged from the hospital at about noon today, and have been enjoying the calm and quiet of our own space ever since. Thank you all for your prayers. We've felt them very much the last few days!

I'll be putting more pictures of our lovely child here at this site, but I'll also be putting tons and tons of pictures at the Jonas Locke Gallery, which can be found at the following link:

Enjoy looking at the fruit of our loins!

Jonas Clayton Locke

God's kindness knows no end, and this little boy is a clear indication of the fact. Our beautiful, healthy son was born Wednesday morning (6/04) at 1:28am (PST). He weighs 8 pounds, 4 ounces and is about 20" tall. He came with a c-section after about 26 hours of hard labor that would likely not have ended in a natural birth, no matter how crunchy Kathy and I wanted to be.

I'm sure this site will soon be rightfully nicknamed the "Jonas Photo Repository," but, since I'm a proud papa and don't mind being ridiculed for the ridiculous amount of love and affection I have for this little guy, I will shamelessly post many many pictures of my firstborn son.

Here are just a few (because I'm tired, not because there aren't more):

We matched, so I took a picutre. This is right before Kathy's surgery (and after 24 hours of labor).

Here he is! Baby Jonas!

Here's mommy and baby.
