No work today!

To celebrate not having to go to work tonight, I spent the morning (despite Jonas's fussiness and refusal to take a good nap [which to me, is at least 1 hour! none of this 25-40 minute stuff!]) with my favorite Hello Kitty sewing machine.

At first I just wanted to adjust the fits on some dresses I found on clearance in the little girls' section at Target. (Aren't they cute? They reminded me of last year's APC dresses, and I'm a sucker for gingham...)

So after fixing some sleeves and taking in the sides a bit, I decided that I should use the leftover fabric from last year's Christmas crafts (I made purses and totes for my friends) and got to work on two bags. This is my sewing table and how the monitor looks when my baby is actually sleeping...

Here's one of the finished bags! I really like this fabric! I was thinking of gifting it, but it's so darn cute and perfect for library trips...

See?!

Jonas doesn't mean to be fussy, it's just that he misses his Grammy a great deal (She misses him very much as well). Don't worry Jonas, you'll get to see Grammy and Grandpa very soon!
P.S.
Kathy, I am so impressed by your creativity. You rock!

The tote is adorable! And definitely worthy of library trips.

Mom- Jonas is definitely excited to see you and Grandpa this weekend. :)

Hi Bethany! We can't wait to see you guys now that you're in CA... The sleeves on the dresses were a little too poofy, so I just took them in. Actually, I ended up just altering the gingham one and left the denim one as is because I wanted to get to making totes. But now I'm considering making the gingham dress into a shirt...

Grace! Of course we have the same dress and sewing machine! And when are you coming to CA so we can play some b-ball?! The Lockes have been practicing! (No, not really...)

LOVE the tote! Where do you get your fabric? Anywhere online by chance? :) I need to find some fabric to make Tic'Tic's bird mobile...

Grace! Let's try to meet up! And I just saw your blog and cannot believe that Atticus is already one! When are you going to be in LA? Maybe Jonas and I can drive up and meet you guys and visit?

Lulu, the fabric's from Ikea! Ikea has really cool, heavier fabrics (I think they sell it for people who want to upholster furniture and things)... I'm actually going next week to look at their newer fabric lines. I'm psyched to see the mobile you're going to make-- it sounds like it'll be awesome!
